►Opening remarks

First, Dr. Zen Tanaka, Representative Director and Conference Chair, gave his greetings.
He also reported the start of the clinical research for children with autism spectrum disorder that began in May of this year, and thanked the participants for their cooperation.

＜＜ Morning Session ＞＞

►Gut bacteria and cancer

The morning session started with a case report on “Intestinal Bacteria and Cancer” by Dr. Zen Tanaka. The chairperson was Dr. Masayuki Asaueholm (President, LAGOM Life Clinic Tateshina).

Dr. Tanaka promotes integrative medicine that makes full use of molecular nutrition, immunology, dentistry, and the oral environment, with a focus on advanced cancer treatment, and practices medicine with a mind to contribute to the development of preventive medicine.

THE PRESENTATION INCLUDED A CASE REPORT ON INTESTINAL BACTERIA, CANCER, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FMT.

Future Clinical Research in the Intestinal Flora Transplantation Clinical Study Group - Cancer Initiatives

A link between intestinal bacteria and cancer has been pointed out, in part because both are mutually related to the human immune system. Some studies have suggested that an imbalance in the intestinal microbiota may lead to the development and progression of cancer, and that certain intestinal bacteria may hold the key. Based on the paper “Nutrients” published in 2021 by Dr. Zen Tanaka, the president of this study group, we will report on the latest cases and cancer from the viewpoint of intestinal microflora.

►Case Reports

Next was a case report on food intolerance. The chairperson was Dr. Masahiko Shirotani, Director of Luke’s Ashiya Clinic.

The KAWAIKO Clinic provides patient-centered medical care, focusing first and foremost on disease prevention and nutritional treatment for cases that would be difficult to improve with insurance. The clinic also provides detailed support for the transplantation of intestinal flora for patients with autism spectrum disorder and other disorders, including the use of diaries kept by patients after the transplantation.

多くの疾患に腸内細菌叢の乱れ（dysbiosis）の関与が明らかになり、糞便細菌叢移植（FMT）が世界各国で多くの疾患に対し検討されている。
最近は、ヒトでは作れない様々な特定の栄養素の分解酵素を、腸内細菌が産生することで、消化吸収に関与していることも明らかになってきている。
食物不耐症は、「特定の食品の消化を適切にできない状態」であり、その不耐症を生じる食材の食事からの除去治療は、現代の食生活において難渋することが多く、また症状とその除去食の継続に対する苦労は、患者のQOLを損なう。
　今回FMTによって乳製品、及び肉類不耐症患者のdysbiosis が改善し、FMT後は、乳製品、肉類摂取後に下痢を生じなくなった症例を報告する。

We began with a video presentation by Dr. Chihiro Yamamoto, a researcher at Symbiosis, Inc. He also explained the characteristics of the flora balance of each disease using graphs.

Bacteria cover our bodies from the inside and outside. They are not well-liked, but they are only a small part of the pathogens, and most of them are part of us, working as part of our metabolism and immune system. What is a healthy intestinal microflora? Can the intestinal microflora be changed? WHILE TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE LATEST FINDINGS, THE STUDY GROUP WILL INTRODUCE ITS OWN FMT (INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION) TO ACHIEVE ITS GOAL.

►NanoGAS® Basic Research Presentation

We presented the results of our joint research with Kobe Gakuin University, which began in April 2020. We presented the foam characteristics of NanoGAS® that are being elucidated.

We are collaborating to evaluate the fundamentals and applications of Nanobubble (NanoGAS®) in the pharmaceutical and medical fields starting in 2020. Various gases contained in air have various physiologically active effects on living organisms, but it is generally difficult to utilize gases for living organisms. Nanobubbles, which can hold gases in liquids for long periods of time, make it possible to “drink” gases. In this study, we examined the effect of drinking NanoGAS® hydrogen water, which contains hydrogen with antioxidant properties, on the reduction of oxidative stress and reported on the oral gas delivery capability of NanoGAS®.

The owner of Le Clos, a French restaurant established 23 years ago, Chef Kuroiwa’s wish was to create a society where people with and without disabilities can be happy together with everyone. The dishes and sweets made by the collaboration of professional chefs and users called “cast members”. He shared the joy of working with the sparkling cast members.
The booth was a great success, selling “chocolate chip cookies” and “caramel almond cookies” which were handmade by the cast members, one by one, with all their heart and soul.

The Dream of Working for Children with Disabilities: Young People's Growing Up Days

The Le Clos group of French restaurants, which has been in business for 23 years, is the setting. “I want to work together with all of you to create a society where people with and without disabilities can be happy together.” The welfare office was opened in 2016 from the desire of the owner chef Kuroiwa. ►Keynote Speech

The afternoon session began with a keynote lecture on ASD. The chairpersons were Dr. Zen Tanaka, Director of Tanaka Clinic of the Representative Director, Jinzenkai Medical Corporation, and Dr. Masahiko Shirotani, Director of Luke’s Ashiya Clinic of the Executive Director.

Dr. Tatsuya Koeda (Vice President, National Center for Child Health and Development, Director of the Department of Mental Health, Professor Emeritus, Tottori University)

Dr. Koeda, who actually deals with various patients from his position as a pediatric neurologist, gave an online lecture. He explained various symptoms of children with autism spectrum disorder from the viewpoint of brain science.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at Tottori University in 1984, he studied at the Department of Pediatrics at Frei University as a Dutch government scholarship student, and became a professor at the Faculty of Education, Tottori University in 1998. He has served as a member of various councils of the central government from 2004 as a member of the Study Committee on Support for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, to 2023 as a member of the Committee on Disability Policy, Cabinet Office. He is the author of many books, including “5-Year-Old Child Health Examination – Essentials of Medical Treatment and Guidance for Developmental Disorders.

►ASD CLINICAL STUDY INTERIM REPORT

Next, Dr. Masahiko Shirotani chaired the interim report on the ASD clinical study, which was presented by Dr. Yuichi Kawai, Director of the board member Medical Corporation YUAKAI Cute Internal Medicine Clinic.

In May of this year, a clinical study for autism spectrum disorder was initiated for children between the ages of 5 and 12. We presented the background of how the clinical study began and an interim report on the clinical study.

Specific Clinical Research Begins ~ The Challenge of Developing a Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders!

THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLINICAL STUDY IS TO OPEN A NEW PATH TO THE TREATMENT OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) USING A “NEW INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION (FMT) METHOD USING HYDROGEN NANOBUBBLE WATER”. THIS NEW FMT METHOD DOES NOT REQUIRE ANTIMICROBIAL ADMINISTRATION OR BOWEL CLEANSING, WHICH ARE COMMONLY USED WHEN PERFORMING FMT, AND ITS DOSAGE (NUMBER OF BACTERIA TO BE ADMINISTERED) IS LESS THAN 1/1000 OF THE CONVENTIONAL FMT METHOD, MAKING IT A MODERATE CONDITION FOR ASD CHILDREN. In this presentation, we will report on the background of the specific clinical research and the mid-term results of the clinical research that started in May.

“AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS (ASD) AND THE POTENTIAL FOR INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION.”

The possibility of novel FMT was discussed by six doctors who are actually involved in transplantation. They introduced testimonials from parents of children with ASD participating in clinical studies, and the teachers talked about their innovations during the transplantation process and actual medical examinations. Finally, we also heard from a parent from Nagoya who participated in the clinical study (Ms. Ikuko Kojima, representative of iStep, a community for mothers and fathers of children with disabilities).
