Characteristics of each process until the transplantation of intestinal bacteria (flora)

Flora balance test

Intestinal microbiome test

The intestinal flora balance test is a method to estimate the species of bacteria mainly living in the intestinal tract by reading the nucleotide sequence of the part containing genetic information (16SrRNA gene) of the microorganisms contained in feces using the latest genetic analysis device called next generation sequencer, and comparing it with a bacterial population classification database.

This is a method to estimate the species of bacteria living mainly in the intestinal tract by comparing the results with the bacterial population classification database.

This intestinal flora balance test is not a medical diagnosis of the patient’s health condition, but by taking this test before and after transplantation, we can plan a transplantation plan tailored to each patient’s individual condition.

Medication

薬物投与

No prior antibiotics are taken to perform the transplant. This is a less burdensome method for patients.
(Taking antibiotics for a certain period of time may damage the diversity of your own intestinal flora.)

* Common FMT method in Japan

Antibiotics are taken for a certain period of time.

Selection of donor ① Blood relationship

ドナーの選定 ①血縁の有無

Stools from donors belonging to Japanbiome, the exclusive private organization in Japan that operates a stool bank for transplantation of intestinal bacteria (plexus), will be used.

Donors who belong to Japanbiome undergo thorough examinations on a regular basis, and the donated stools are frozen and stored. Only after passing the next inspection is the frozen stool provided since the previous inspection used.

*Common FMT methods in Japan

Basically, patients look for a donor who is within the second degree of kinship.

If there is no suitable person, the patient can be referred to a donor. Fresh stools donated by relatives within the second degree of kinship are often used.

Selection of donor ② Disease-specific

By our experience in transplantation of various diseases, we adjust the bacterial solution for each patient individually based on the results of the intestinal flora balance test and the online questionnaire of the patient and the interview by the physician.

Purification method ①Solvent

Extended quality maintenance period of bacterial solution

In the transplantation of intestinal bacteria (flora), by using the characteristics of the fine bubbles of NanoGAS® water, it has been realized that the intestinal bacteria of others, which were originally considered to be blocked by autoimmune functions such as IgA (immunoglobulin A) and could not live well, can be established effectively.

*Common FMT method in Japan

requires immediate transplantation after purification of the bacterial solution because the bacteria begin to multiply and change the balance immediately after dissolving in saline solution.

Purification method ② Concentration

精製方法 ②濃度

To reduce the phenomenon of temporary confusion when the patient’s immune system recognizes the difference between the intestinal bacteria of others who came from outside and your own intestinal bacteria, multiple transplants are performed in a short period of time in a systematic manner.

Another feature of this method is that the concentration is gradually increased to ensure effective establishment.

Dosing Method

Dosing Method

This is a less burdensome method that does not require prior bowel cleansing or dietary restrictions because it is administered by catheter injection without the use of an endoscope.

< Attention>

If you have gas after leaving the treatment room after transplantation, please be sure to dispose of the gas on the toilet seat. The liquid that held the bacteria will come out with the gas, but please be assured that the bacteria have settled in the intestinal tract.

*Common FMT method in Japan

This is a burdensome method involving bowel cleansing by administering laxatives and dietary restrictions beforehand, as it is administered via a colonoscope.

Intestinal microflora transplantation start (Interpretation provided)

【3~6 times】

The NanoGAS®-FMT procedure is performed with a concentration gradient so that your own immune system will not recognize the new flora balance as “foreign”. We initially suggest an initial course of three to six sessions, but this varies greatly depending on the type of disease, the number of years affected, and the state of progression of the disease.
In addition, there are individual differences depending on the patient’s constitution, lifestyle, and other factors. We will inform you of the general plan at the initial consultation, and then monitor your condition while performing the transplantation.

*Common FMT method in Japan

After transplantation, the patient must continue to visit the hospital periodically for endoscopic examinations.

Re-examination and follow-up

再検査・経過観察

Please consult with your attending physician regarding reexamination to check the intestinal flora balance during and after the transplantation period.
