Q7. After undergoing the transplant, how did your symptoms change?<\/h4>\n\n It changed dramatically, but it wasn’t the change I had expected, so it was surprising.<\/p>\n\n

\u2461 My stamina improved, and I learned to swim the crawl in the swimming lessons I was taking (which had previously been just for fun), enabling me to swim over 800 meters.<\/p>\n\n
Before, even during one-hour lessons, I’d sometimes quit early saying \u201cI’m tired\u201d or \u201cI’m bored.\u201d But now I can swim nonstop for two hours once a week, and I’ve even reached a speed where I can swim alongside my coach.<\/p>\n\n

It wasn’t a change, but on Monday after the first transplant (Saturday), my teacher asked, \u201cDid you do something?\u201d My behavior at school seemed different from before. Perhaps they thought I had started medication (like ADHD medication such as Concerta).<\/p>\n\nQ8. After the transplant, are there any lifestyle habits or mindsets you consciously maintain to support and preserve the gut bacteria that have now become your allies?<\/h4>\n\n \u30fbEat plenty of root vegetables.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbGet enough sleep.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbSugar is not used at all in the home (though some intake occurs in school lunches, etc.).<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbI hardly ever eat sweets.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbGluten-free.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbI do not consume dairy products (I have permission not to drink milk at school either).<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbDrink plenty of fluids.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbEat plenty of seaweed.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbI don’t eat white rice (except for school lunches).<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbMade with pesticide-free brown rice.<\/p>\n\n
\u30fbSnacks include root vegetables, frozen blueberries or strawberries, apples, etc. (all organic).<\/p>\n\nQ9. In the future, would you consider receiving regular transplants to maintain your health?<\/h4>\n\n I definitely want to continue.<\/p>\n\n
